A powerful first-hand memoir

The War as I Saw It: In Rhodesia, Now Zimbabwe, Through the Eyes of a Black Boy draws readers into the world of a child living through a war he does not fully understand.

As violence forces his family from their home in the mountains to the streets of towns and cities, George Makonese Matuvi recounts their journey with honesty, restraint, and moments of humour. Woven through hardship and upheaval are memories of childhood, storytelling, ingenuity, and love.

This is a memoir of survival, family, and quiet resilience in the face of forces beyond one's control.
